January and February book haul

In January and February i accumulated twelve books in totally six of which was a book set that i got for valentines day, two were gifts, two came from my fairyloot subscription and the last two were audio books from audible.

January

In January i got Harry Potter and the chamber of secrets and Harry Potter and the prisoner of Azkaban as gifts. i have still yet to read these copies yet or the books at all, I am such a terrible fan. i love the illustration in these books and can't wait to get to them soon.

I then brought Lair of dreams by Libba Bray on audible. finished reading this in February and my thoughts will be in my wrap up. I loved it so much and can't wait to get my hands on the squeal. I need to know what happens next especially what happens between the love triangle that is happening.

The last book i got in January was The cruel prince. I got this in my January fairyloot box. Like Harry Potter i haven't read this yet but plan on reading it soon. I have head mostly positive things about it.

February

In February i got soulless on audible. I absolutely loved this book and is my favourite of the month. I have written about my thoughts on the book in my wrap up tomorrow. This was a five star book and i can't wait to carry on with this series and the others that are set in the same world but first i need to get through at least half of the books on my physical tbr.

On valentines day i received the chronicles of Ixia book set. I was so happy to get this books as i have wanted to read them for so long now. I have just started the first book poison study and am already loving it and can't wait to get to the others and need to buy he glass study series as well.

The last book in this haul is The Hazel wood which i got in my fairyloot box. i was excited to read it but was disappointed by it. i have a review on it if you want to read more of my thoughts.

In total i read three of the books i hauled and am in the middle of reading another. Have you read any of the books that you have brought recently?

Thanks for reading

Book blog newbie tag

As i have just started my book blog i thought i would do the book blog newbie tag. I saw theBookishLounge do this and hope that you can get to know me.

1. Why did you start this blog?
I started a book/reading bullet journal this year and then wanted to start a blog. I was originally not sure about it due to my dyslexia but decided i wanted to anyway and that why should my dyslexia get in the way of it.

2. What are some fun and unique things you can bring to book blogging?
I'm not sure what i could bring to the community as i'm not that creative unlike others in this community. I think i could encourage others with learning difficulties that they can start a blog or do something else that they like and not worry that it will affect their ability to do it.

3. What are you most excited for about this new blog?
I'm excited to met other people as i have got no one to talk to about books and to also improve my blog and skills.

4. Why do you love reading?
I have social anxiety and talking to people has always been hard. I love being inside and reading has always been apart of that. I have always loved exploring new worlds and falling in love with new characters.

5. What book or series got you into reading?
I used to read all the time as a kid but like others i got some new hobbies and got busy with school and then college. Once i got to uni i got back into reading and the first book i read that got me back into it was city of bones.

6. What questions would you ask your favourite authors?
I honestly don't know what i would ask.

7. What challenges do you think starting a blog will be the hardest to overcome?
The hardest thing i think about blogging will be my dyslexia. I will need to make sure what i have written makes sense and to not repet myself. That there are no spelling mistakes and getting what i am thinking out.

8. When did you start reading?
I originally read as a child maybe around 6 or 7. I started reading again a couple years ago when i was 20.

9. Where do you read?
I usually read on my sofa cuddled up with my bookish cushions and my slytherin throw.

10. What kind of books do you read?
I mainly read fantasy but am starting to read other genres. I have always loved fantasy and it will always be my favourite. I love reading different worlds and magic.

That is the tag and hopefully anyone who reads this can now know me better.

The Hazel wood book review

The Hazel wood is about 17 year old Alice. All her life Alice and her mum have been running from the bad luck that haunts them. Alice's grandmother is an reclusive author who wrote a fairy tale book. They received a letter saying that she is dead and soon after her mum has been kidnapped.

I had received this book from my fairyloot subscription for February. I was intrigued by the book and its plot and read started the day i got it as i had heard good things about this book.
I enjoyed the start of the first half of the book. I enjoyed the Melissa Albert's writing. Alice and her mum have a more sister relationship then mother and daughter. They are very close which was cute and needed due to their consent travelling and sleeping in the same room/car.

I liked Finch even though he was a bit of a hipster stereotype. He has a Vonnegut quote tattoo and has his own library in his bedroom(suite). He was the only person of colour in the book and was described as unattractive.

The road trip was good. It was creepy and built up Alice and Finch's relationship and trust especially as he is a fan boy of her aunt which she has always be warned against trusting by her mum.
Once Alice had reached the halfway woods  i was bored by the book. I decided to carry on as i loved the start and wanted to know how it finished.
I was confused when she got to the hazel wood and then started to skim read the book.
